What is Learning for Living?
Learning for Living is a course in spirituality, mission, and service. The course focuses on three core areas:
Enrichment of self
The course deepens peoples’ understanding of their own spirituality and Christian experience.
Mission in the world
The course develops people’s sense of their mission and service in the world.
Ministry to the church
The course enables people to preach and lead worship as Lay Preachers.
Is it for me?
Learning for Living is an ideal course for those who are new to Christian theology.
The central ideas and beliefs, key debates, significant historical documents and leading thinkers of Christianity are introduced using the framework of the Apostle’ Creed. The central ideas of both tradition and contemporary theology are explored.
While all major Christian denominations are considered there will be an emphasis on the UCA Basis of Union. The classes will be structured to provide an opportunity for participants to engage in theological reflection appropriate to their own context and at their own pace.
This is a general interest course suitable for all those wanting to explore their faith further as well as for those wishing to undertake Lay Preacher accreditation or considering a Period of Discernment.
